Sewing Culottes!
If I had a dime for every pair of culottes that I have sewn for granddaughters I'd be just a little bit richer! But it seems the requests are getting fewer as all my granddaughters are getting older and I suspect are outgrowing the active "tomboy" stage and will be settling into more "lady-like" or fashionable wear as the years hurry past! My how time is screaming past! It seems like only yesterday I held my very first grandchild in my arms. That was 13 yrs. ago, that little baby girl has grown into the most amazing young woman. She (and all 9 other grandchildren of mine) simply amaze me. I am most blessed above all women to have such a fantastic family. Having grown up as an only child and might I also add lonely child my greatest desire was to be a part of a large loving family. And here I am! So back to the culottes. The 2 pair I'm making right now are "horsey". What I mean is there are horses all over the material. Jubilee, who will be the recipiant of these culottes loves horses. I think most little girls love horses. And a lot of old girls like me do to, except now I dare not to hop on one and ride away else I'd be collecting my poor old rattling bones for days. But in Jubilee's eyes I see and remember the excitement of being a little girl riding away on a beautiful horse. You go Jubi, may you always remember wonderful horses, "horsey" culottes, and a Mamaw who loves you more than you can ever know. Here's to childhood, grandchildren, and the joy they bring, and my large, loving family. I thank God for every one of you.
