Well the title caught my attention to say the very least, and being a proponent of fewer chemicals in our lives I decided to try this experiment and even convinced my dear husband to do likewise. Yep! We are believers after only 3 weeks of using this technique. Okay so I know you are thinking...what technique? If you'd like to try it is truly easy. Instead of shampoo you massage into your scalp a paste of baking soda and water. Take 1 tablespoon of baking soda and add enough water to make a paste. Massage the paste into your entire scalp, then rinse with water and you are done. No oily, dirty hair and it is more managable. Try it, you might like it!

Family Reunion is drawing near...

Things are in a flurry of activity at Mamaw's House! The children start arriving Saturday evening. This normally very quiet home will explode with the laughter of youngsters, and the long anticipated fellowshipping between all of us. The only thing missing will be eldest son and his family. They cannot make it this year, but they will be with us if only in our hearts. Brian and Kathy if you read this, please know we love and miss you and hope to do some webcamming with you all.

I'm cleaning like a maniac, my children like to threaten me that if I don't quit cleaning before their visits they will quit coming. Oh my! Cleaning is my passion, that's like telling me not to breath. As they say in England, I am "houseproud"! Can't help it, my mum was like that and her mum before her. So I am having a great time and looking forward to the whole gang arriving. Youngest son and his family arrive on Monday. Everyone gets to stay about a week. Sweet!

There is more rain today. Pretty strange for this time of year here. But it sure is nice. Everything is emerald green. It is nice to have the drought over.

I've been knitting more dishcloths, something I dearly love doing. They come out so pretty, makes the drudgery of dishwashing a little more enjoyable.

Well, I'm out of here. But it seems the requests are getting fewer as all my granddaughters are getting older and I suspect are outgrowing the active "tomboy" stage and will be settling into more "lady-like" or fashionable wear as the years hurry past! My how time is screaming past! It seems like only yesterday I held my very first grandchild in my arms. That was 13 yrs. ago, that little baby girl has grown into the most amazing young woman. She (and all 9 other grandchildren of mine) simply amaze me. I am most blessed above all women to have such a fantastic family. Having grown up as an only child and might I also add lonely child my greatest desire was to be a part of a large loving family. And here I am! So back to the culottes. The 2 pair I'm making right now are "horsey". What I mean is there are horses all over the material. Jubilee, who will be the recipiant of these culottes loves horses. I think most little girls love horses. And a lot of old girls like me do to, except now I dare not to hop on one and ride away else I'd be collecting my poor old rattling bones for days. But in Jubilee's eyes I see and remember the excitement of being a little girl riding away on a beautiful horse. You go Jubi, may you always remember wonderful horses, "horsey" culottes, and a Mamaw who loves you more than you can ever know. Here's to childhood, grandchildren, and the joy they bring, and my large, loving family. I thank God for every one of you.

This is new for me!
It seems from my corner of the world that everyone is blogging. My children are bloggers, my friends are bloggers, it seems everyone is blogging. What ever happened to journals and diaries? I probably should've named this blog "the 1700's house"! It might have fit just as well. HA! So now I sit here wondering "do I have enough to say that is worth saying on a blog"? I guess this is a start for me for now. Practice makes perfect, maybe my friends and family will stroll over to my blog and visit a while. Til then I have laundry to do, (I love to hang laundry outdoors, no fabric softener or dryer has ever captured the feel and smell of laundry that has been air dried in the great outdoors), and then there is dinner to think about...hmmm meatloaf sounds good. So that is it from Mamaw's house and my corner of the world for now.
